Waste

The objectives in this sector are:

  • Mutual understanding on the issues and regulatory tools for the waste sector intensifies and deepens
  • Favourable change in the capacity of the GoI to deal with waste issues, particularly with regard to international best practices.
  • Input for policy framework enhancement delivered
Expected results are:
  • Enhanced knowledge on management of waste in India
  • Input for enhanced policies, legislation, regulations, and tools for waste management in India provided

Activities in the waste sector are:

1.1 Preparation of a detailed activity plan and necessary background information on selected waste management issues. Completed

1.2 Conduct a National Level Focus Group session to provide further direction and focus for information management  and capacity building. Completed

1.3 EU-India Workshops on Management of E-waste and Remediation of Contaminated Sites. Completed, December 2009 - February 2010

1.4 Support to EC Ship Dismantling Conference. In progress

1.5 Policy Development on E-waste. On-going, February 2010 - June 2010


1.6 Remediation for contaminated sites: suitably adapting EU policy and regulation to the situation in India (particularly from the EU member states). Proposed

1.7 Study tour by officials to Europe (e-waste). Proposed
